We are Bob and Charlotte Ruediger from Butler Pa. I've (Charlotte) have been working with fired art for over 25 years now, first as a hobbyist and then about 18 years ago I opened my own shop.
I am a certified Duncan teacher having received both the Duncan Sheild Club Award and the Irma Duncan Award for continuing education. I am also a certified Seeley stoneware teacher. I have classes at my shop, 6 times a week, with all age groups welcome, beginners to advanced hobbyists.
I discovered horsehair art while on a trip to New Mexico to see our son and his family. Using horsehair art as an excuse, :) :) we went back to see them, while I took classes to learn this unique art form. I've been told it's a 15th century Indian method of decorating pottery, having been discovered by an Indian maiden as she took hot pots out of the firing pit, and burned her hair on it. We've taken it a step further, by using the method on a lot of decorator pieces.
Bob and I will be more than happy to create a special piece for you, using the horses hair we have available or using your horses hair for a truly personal piece. We appreciate your checking our site and your business.
